Company History

Heartland Renewable Energy, LLC was established in 2006 to capitalize on promising anaerobic digester technology that efficiently converted organic wastes into methane-rich biogas. The gas production from the pilot digester tests were substantially greater than yields noted from digesters at various locations throughout the U.S. Heartland obtained a license agreement and exclusive territory for applying the technology in an area that covers most of the central portion of the U.S., Canada, and Mexico. This area encompasses a large part of North America's agricultural land and regions where concentrated animal feeding operations are located as well as large communities where substantial food waste is available from restaurants and food distributors that will be a source of feedstock for Heartland’s plants. The licensed territory also contains most of the gas pipelines that will be customers for the gas produced. Heartland is currently developing it’s first plant in Weld County Colorado.
